Sophie Bateman trained privately in London with Mary King and English National Opera. Most recently she has been fortunate enough to train with Jessica Cash, vocal coach to Emma Kirkby.
While Sophie has a special interest in performing Oratorio and a love of the music of the Baroque period, she has a wide and varied repertoire. She has performed as a soloist in some of the most beautiful and prestigious venues around the country such as St Paul’s Cathedral and has also performed solos in Venice, Florence, Budapest, Vienna and Prague. She regularly performs at private recitals and functions both within the UK and as far a ﬁeld as the United States.
Sophie sings regularly with the world renowned Bach Choir in London and has performed in The Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and Windsor Castle. She has also had the honour of performing for Her Majesty The Queen and Prince Phillip at Buckingham Palace and also for the former Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams.
She has performed on BBC Radio, a number of CDs and Film scores, and recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London.
With a wide experience of performing many different genres of music; Oratorio, Opera, Lieder, Early music, Sacred, Musical Theatre, The American Song Book and Folk music, Sophie is able to provide music for a variety of different occasions and tastes.
In addition, she has taught music in London and the South both privately and in Independent Schools. She has held voice workshops in the South West and trained and conducted a Russian Orthodox church choir. As a specialist in singing The Russian Orthodox Liturgy she is in demand for Orthodox Church ceremonies such as weddings and baptisms.
